Alcoholism is a problem that you’d hope would stop with death. Sure, as a living, breathing person, you might be gripped by DTs after a few hours without alcohol, but after you pass away, one would think that whatever power exists in the Great Beyond would halt your need for a morning scotch.

However, it seems that this is not the case, if Discovery’s show Ghost Adventures is to be believed

In a clip from the show, one of the hosts, Billy, can be seen standing over a table with a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses. After a moment, he pauses in apparent fright. “They want me to drink another whiskey, dude,” he says.

His partner is quick to tell Billy not to drink the wino ghost’s whiskey, either because he’s genuinely scared of the repercussions or because he really can’t believe that Discovery is going to let them get away with this absurd premise. “You’re going to be drunk!” Billy’s partner exclaims.

Still, Billy is steadfast in his desire to booze it, saying that the ghost is compelling him to drink. “It’s the weirdest thing,” he says. “Like, I want to do it!” We’ve all been there, buddy.

Eventually, Billy caves, throwing back what his partner reveals is his third shot of the night. “Feels good,” Billy says while ominous music swells.

Of course, commenters weren’t exactly buying the “ghost made me do it” defense. “Buddy is just an alcoholic,” wrote one. “Next the ghost will make him drive,” added another. “That happens to me when I go out all the time,” joked a third.

So next time you get pulled over, you know the words to say: “Officer, the alcoholic ghost told me to do it.”
